Also known as Sant Ravidas Nagar, this small town located at
a distance of 45 kms from Varanasi is a major carpet
manufacturing centre which earns foreign exchange on 80 per
cent of its produce. History has it that a Persian weaver
travelling in a caravan was attacked by dacoits, but
survived the massacre. He settled in Bhadohi and imparted
his knowledge of weaving to the local residents, which
help set up a thriving industry.

and earthquakes ; at the southern end , a large
sculpture of a lion tussling with an Elephant doubles
